Utilising the economic downturn to strengthen your business?
There are always ups and downs on life’s highway. It is not
necessarily about avoiding the bumps but looking at utilising them to
your advantage; to gain extra speed or to project you ahead. Many have
seen the recession diminish their life savings and having a profound
effect on their outlook of the future. But the world economy is
starting to show signs of life and there is even the prospect of growth
as early as next year. Businesses are starting to prepare for the
upturn and are taking advantage of the opportunities created by the
recession. Arthur D Little’s twice-a-year ideas booklet, Prism
carried out a survey earlier this year on the priorities of senior
executives from companies of all sizes and industries on their response
to the recession. A high level of optimism came through in companies’
responses when asked about when they thought output would reach
pre-crisis levels. Most of the companies predicted it would be around
end of 2010 or end of 2011 which is pretty optimistic considering most
economists have predicted it to peak around 2013 or beyond. Now is the
time to invest in your company. One recommendation that is made within
Prism is to not only to be innovative in new approaches but to also
review processes and organisational set up. To read more on the report
